Welcome to the prep call, it will last around 30 mins. I’ll start with a quick recap and some general prep tips, then you can deliver the presentation and we can discuss any feedback. All good?
2.RECAP (10 MINS)
✅ Have you received and accepted the diary invite, know who you are meeting and the structure of the meeting?
✅ What questions do you have for each person attending? (have they reviewed their profiles?)
✅ How are you feeling about the opportunity in general? What did you like from last time?
✅ Is there anything you are hesitant about? How are you feeling about that now?
✅ Re cap questions that were asked during the interview and what topics were covered off.
⚠️TEST FOR HIDDEN DEAL BREAKERS:
“Let’s be positive and assume you get an offer after today, What questions does the company need to answer during the interview for you to be able to make a decision?” (PREP YOUR CLIENT ON THESE)
🤝 TEST COMMITMENT:
How are your other processes going? When exactly are they due to conclude? Where does this one sit compared to them?
Do the mock interview based on some of the hesitations/concerns the client may have and on any areas that were not discussed last time.
Potential concern:
Track record in business development – go through the candidates BD processes and re trace some of their big wins in BD.
💡 This is so the candidate will emphasis these and for us to educate the candidate on additional methods of BD. This will allow the candidate to demonstrate in the interview their understanding of BD and what they would implement if they were to move).
?Topics to question around if they weren’t covered in the first meeting:
Candidate/client attraction strategy/ client penetration/relationship mgmt. strategy / motivations to move/ their WHY/ what a typical day looks like and performance metrics/ how they like to be managed/ goals outside of work/ long term career aspirations.
🎤 Get them to present exactly as they will do with the client. No matter how experienced they are, ensure you go through presentation skills with them. We don’t need to see them reading off a screen, we want to see how they come across when presenting the content. Would we hire them?
Points to cover:
➡️ Give them positive feedback along with anything they can do better (builds confidence)
➡️ Push on certain aspects of the presentation/ push them on questions around the figures they have included – how did they come up with the figures? How realistic are they? Are the numbers punchy enough?
➡️Get them to clarify any points you believe need to be more detailed – make sure they have the what and the how.
➡️ Ensure you tick off each agenda point (from the client) to ensure the candidate has covered everything the client asks.
Review their presenting skills:
📋 Do they know the content and the order off by heart?
😉 Is their personality coming through or are they just reading?
👀 Are they looking into the camera/making eye contact? Looking and sound confident?
🪞 If they are nervous – tell them to put prompts on post-it notes and stick them on their monitor OR practice in the mirror and to family/friends.
?Decide when they will take questions – as they go or at the end? (at the end is possibly better so as not to interrupt flow and cover off later points but it is down to personal preference)
“As before, end it on a high note by summarising your fit for the role and expressing your enthusiasm for the opportunity. Even if you are 50/50 always leave on a positive so the ball is in your court. I can deal with it all later. So close off by:”
✅ Reiterating your interest:
✅ Addressing any concerns: Directly ask, “Is there anything about my background or experience that would stop you progressing with me?”
✅ If appropriate, close for the next step: What do you see as the next step?
✅ Follow up: Send a personalized thank-you note within 24 hours, reiterating key points from the interview and reaffirming your interest in the position.
“It’s imperative that you call me as soon as the interview is over for a couple of reasons, first off, a quick recruiter is a good recruiter and our clients will look at how you act in this process and consider it how you act in the work place, also, it gives us a good opportunity to get you feedback straight away from the client, moving the process forward and saving you time. What else do you need from me?”
